The Polytechnic University of Setúbal (IPS) is a public higher education institution in Portugal, with campuses in the cities of Setúbal and Barreiro. The Schools of the Polytechnic University of Setúbal are located on the Setúbal campus and on the Barreiro campus, in modern buildings, designed and built from scratch for the operation of higher education courses, occupying privileged architectural spaces and forming a harmonious set, surrounded by the gardens and the natural landscape. All buildings have auditoriums and amphitheatres, classrooms, laboratories, documentation and IT centres and multimedia rooms that provide multiple IT equipment, specialized software, internet access and a wireless network with free access in all the campuses. In addition to the bars in each of the Schools, there are also, on the Setúbal campus, a central cafeteria, a sports hall and a residence for students.

Location

The Setúbal region is part of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, and also borders the Alentejo, being an important connection with the south of Portugal. The cities of Setúbal and Barreiro have excellent accessibility, offering road, rail and sea-river transport. Some of the main Portuguese roads guarantee quick and comfortable connections throughout the country, as well as the entire Iberian Peninsula. Lisbon International Airport and the Portuguese capital itself are just a 40-minute drive from Setúbal and Barreiro is just a boat crossing over the Tagus. The location, accessibility and resources of this region are strong attraction factors for people and companies, allowing for constant modernization that is reflected in its economic growth.
