Thousands of years before the Portuguese borders were established, the land was already inhabited by various peoples who came and left and, as they did so, they left behind their historical heritage that is clearly visible even today.

The Portuguese population may be aging a bit, but its spirit is getting younger. From the variety of typical taverns that can be found to gourmet restaurants; from Fado (traditional folk music) houses to pop music festivals; from street dances on traditional and/or religious festivals to lively nightclubs open until dawn, Portuguese people know how to enjoy themselves. They also enjoy welcoming others into the fold and making sure they too have fun.
